How To Clean Windows With A Buddy

Window washing is generally not at the top of most people’s ‘Can’t Wait To Do’ list.

In the words of Piglet, ‘It’s so much friendlier with two!’ Finding a friend to help you out with your window cleaning not only makes the whole thing much more enjoyable, it’s faster too. Win-win!

The simplest way to do this is to work out your system in advance. Can one of you do the inside and one do the outside? If it’s cold (or hot!) outside, when will you switch so the other person doesn’t die of heat exposure or hypothermia?

Another option is to work together on the same window pane. This works especially well if one of you is more experienced than the other - you’re less likely to end up with streaks and smudges and missed bits. The less-experienced impromptu window washer can hold all the extra equipment and pass it as needed.

Having three buckets in constant rotation can be helpful too. Start out with one bucket full of soapy water, and two with clean water; the clean water will show its dirt content much faster than the soapy bucket, especially because it’s being used for the final rinse. The second person can take the dirty bucket and replace it (either with clean or soapy water) as needed, so the first person never has to stop work to refill a bucket.

Washing windows is hard work, but having a buddy to help can make all the difference.
