How To Prep Your Windows For Washing

Window washing is rarely at the top of most people’s ‘Can’t Wait To Do’ list.

Washing windows is hard physical work, but you can simplify the process and make everything go faster if you follow just a couple of steps to prep:

1. Vacuum

Vacuuming away dust and dirt from inside and around the window seals will save you a LOT of time later because you won’t be smearing the dirt all over the window as you try to wash it.

2. Check for critters

Checking for mold, mildew, spider’s or wasp’s nests can save you some serious headaches later. No one wants to be unexpectedly attacked by a rabid wasp they didn’t realize had set up shop in their window frame!

3. Paint

Touching up any peeling paint or exposed wood may seem like a pain, but trust us - you’re making your windows last a WHOLE lot longer if you do.

4. Check for cracks

Especially if your windows are double-paned, you don’t want to start throwing water at them if there are even hairline cracks in the pane. Water will just seep in between the pains and will be completely impossible to get out. It leads to maddening condensation and misting inside your window that obscures your view until you replace your windows.
